I recently purchased a certified used 09 Edge SEL. The engine has been surging both while at complete stops and while driving (most often when accelerating from 30-40 mph). I took it in for repair and nothing is coming up on the computer. However, a technician drove the car and verified what I have been experiencing. They rebooted the computer, but the problem persists. Anyone else with this issue or with any ideas? I am afraid I bought a lemon...

My 2008 Ford Edge is currently at the shop for a similar issue. Except that it surges while the cruise control is set. They tried reprogramming the computer but that didn't fix the issue. They've had it for 3 days now and haven't been able to fix it. The issue is that it doesn't do it every time the cruise is set. One day it will act up and the next day it will work perfectly. They have contacted the engineers at Ford and are waiting on a response.

It took four trips in for repair, but they seem to have figured it out. Luckily it was acting up just as I drove in this last time so they were able to see what was happening. They said it was the throttle body. They replaced it and the car has been running fine since then (about 2 weeks now). Since the problem only happened now and then the computer kept saying the car was fine. Hope this helps.

I think they have a solution for my problem too. The Ford engineers have been having issues with the speed sensors when going between 5-10 mph and they've started getting calls about issues at higher speeds. They think that is what is causing the problem with mine when the cruise is set. I should get my vehicle back early next week, hopefully the problem will be all taken care of.

I ended up taking my car back in... This time they replaced the throttle body, so we'll see if that fixes the issue. Frustrating that the throttle body apparently isn't covered by the warranty...

We have a 2007 Edge SEL+ and experienced intermittent surging last summer at around 30,000 miles. After the dealer put a recorder on the engine for a few months, it was found to be the throttle body. It was replaced and we have had no problems in nearly a year.

Since they replaced the throttle body my Edge has been running fine too (few months now).

Since they replaced the throttle botty, every time I put gas in my car won't start on the first try... It's like it tries to start and then it sputters out and dies. Typically it will start on the 2nd try, if not it definitely starts on the 3rd try. I've put gas in probably 7 or 8 times since replacing the throttle body and EVERY time it does the same thing... Anyone have any ideas? Back to the dealer I go...

I had a valve leaking gas into the engine, but only happened when filling tank (even if I only put $2 worth in, literally). Replaced valve seems to have fixed the issue...
