The "Chrome Wheels" are plastic covers.....expensive plastic covers. Does Ford put the same "Chrome Wheels" on theri other vehicles? Any thoughts? :?:

It's called Chrome Cladding. Yes Ford does the same thing on their other vehicles. They do this because a true chrome rim is too heavy and affects the driving dynamics. It's not that bad really.

I was down to my Ford Dealer today to let the wife sit in the new Edge and she loved it...We wanted the NAvgasion system on it but if this one had had that feature ,it didn't, I think she would have made a deal and bought it...The Crema white colour was very very sharp and I don't care for light colours as a rule...

Now...The chrome wheels really do look good...I think they are well made like the set that was on my 150 4x4 Lariet...But I don't care for the 18"tires, the conintentals, it comes with...The ones on my 2005 FiveHundred I had did not stand up so well wear wise and I had to watch it driving in rain...

I was all kinds of proud of my 18" chrome-clad aluminum wheels
I was pretty bummed when I found what chrome-clad actually meant.
Now shopping for some 20" or 22" aftermarket wheels. There's a HUGE selection out there O_O

For ours, we are going a different path. I am aiming for classy, yet sporty. I am also looking at rims with a polished or chrome lip w/ black face.

These are the candidates:

Asanti AF128

& Swiss SW-2

Fesler FS901

Sporza Elegante

The wife wants to see what these rims look like.

I have a 2008 Edge with the chrome wheels and after just one winter season the painted crome has tarnished considerably and the aluminum rims are coroded badly.
Has anyone tried to get problem adressed under warranty?

The dealership replaced all 4 under warranty as this is a common problem due to original supplier.
