My tach does strange things...which translates the transmission I suppose.

But I can be coasting down a hill and then when I hit the gas to go, the tach goes all over the place. Also, I notice it shifting when I really don't see a need to shift.

I know you are supposed to let off on the gas and it makes it shift, well, when I do that, it doesn't shift and it revs back up to where it was...

Anyone else having these problems.

I haven't experienced any problems such as you describe...the 6 speed transmission will find the best gear for you to be in according to speed, whether you are going up or down hill, etc....consult your Ford dealer....and, as a post script, this is the first new vehicle that I have purchased the extended warranty for, simply because of all the electronics in the car...bumper to bumper for 100,000 miles...cost me @ $1200.00...

that 6 speed is sensitive.its nature of the beast.i wouldnt woory about it till you really feel something is wrong.you will be with out your ride for awhile and you will be angry if something isnt wrong with it.

I agree with Italiano. Also, this is a 6 speed. It will find the proper gear for the speed. These trannys in all the new cars do not hold overdrive, 6th gear in this case, when on an incline. I think this has to do with high hp and low torque motors. Also the lack of 8 cylinders, ha, that means less torque. All of my 8 cyl cars will hold overdrive on most all of the steepest grades, the edge does not, as many others out there.

My 07 Edge with 37K miles has the same problem when you press on the gas to accelerate the RPMs jump up then go back down quickly. I don't think this is supposed to happen and from looking at other sites with Edge problems it seems to be happening to more of them. I don't think this is a little problem that I should get used to. This seems to be a major problem. I am thinking of trading in my Edge but I would probably have to go upside down on it.
